Introductions

Attendees: 16

Principal’s Update (Corey)

  • Thank you to volunteers/PTA

    • We are a great school because our PTA is so engaged. The difference a great PTA makes is everything!

NewWe had 20 plus applicants for available positions in our school.

  • Synopsis of the year “We Belong” with Panorama survey information celebration and focus/goals for the 2023/2024 school year.

    • We can go anywhere in our building and if we yell, “Who belongs?” Students yell back, “We Belong!” Out of all kids, 4-5, under school belonging, we went up 5 percentage points. This is huge. Our score was in the 99th percentile! 94% responded that adults at our school support them.

    • Our goal would be with the question, “How much respect do students at your school show you?”

    • We want to get students to work on respecting each other!

    • April: Do all students participate in this survey?

    • Hafey: Yes.

    • Crone: It has improved and is more kid friendly.

    • Student engagement is another goal. Mr. Witzel and I are wanting to work on the question, “When you are not in school, how often do you talk about ideas from your class?”

    • K-3-We are a couple percentages above the other schools in the district. We love the 96% that say, “My teachers believe that I can learn.”

    • We are in the 99 percentile for our goal of making kids feel like they belong. We really worked on our goal!

    • Next year, we will start the year strong. We are looking to have Aiden Lynch come to talk about the strength of his mind. We like the response cheer thing. Brainstorming here, Hey is your mind is strong so, Let’s go! He has MS and has a brilliant mind! We are excited to have him share with our school and start our year off strong!

    • Thank you for your help on WE BELONG, because we do belong!

  • We need someone to step into the role of Vice President. April will be stepping down. Joe Kuda will jump in and help out. He is willing to take on that role. It is a 1 year commitment. We can look at it again next year. He is graciously stepping in.

  • Hafey: I nominate Joe Kuda.

  • April: Second.

  • Joe Kuda is our new Vice President.

Open Items

  • Future volunteer needs.

  • Summer Learning Program

    • We would love volunteers. More information is on the website. We have so many kids who participate. You can volunteer at a couple or all! Summer learning is awesome.

  •  Reward – Rowdy

    • We need to decide on which day Rowdy will be coming to the school, so Sarah can get it on the schedule with her dad.

    • Sarah will talk with her dad to find a date to bring in rowdy.

  • Updating playground equipment 🡪 We should start looking at this for a goal for 2023/2024

    • Previous meeting – Corey was going to call the Loma Principal to ask some questions about how they were able to get this to work for them.

    • Hafey talked with the principal at Loma and they received a grant. They received a grant. Loma’s Playground was 340,000 dollars. They had to put up 25%. With the grant, community donations, community feedback, and has to not have a park near. It was a huge process. In order to replace our big playground, it would be around 250,000 dollars.

    • New Emerson went a different route. We will look into that more.

    • Lacey: Does the school district require we get the equipment from somewhere specific?

  • Hafey: We go through a company that follows safety requirements.

  • April: We don’t know if it is because of that company that it is that expensive?

  • Hafey: It is a lot of work to go the way Loma went, but she gave me the number of the lady to contact.

  • April: I don’t think it is worth the effort.

  • Hafey: I will talk with New Emerson too.The apparatus is not as expensive, it is putting the apparatus in. It would become a community park.

  • April: Obviously the cost will be a lot. We do recognize it does need to be updated.

  • Hafey: I think the best way is through a grant.

  • Decodable books 🡪 We won’t come back to this until we have more info from the curriculum department.

  • Business Sponsors 🡪 These plans still need to be finalized. Joe Kuda said he will be the champion of that. Jared has had his hand in that too.

  • Jared: We will have that up and running at the beginning of the year.

  • Hafey: We can use the Tv’s to broadcast our sponsors.

  • Prepackaged school supplies 🡪 this has not been researched.

    • Jared: There are a lot of things going on, so I think we are good at postponing this until later.

Other Ideas or Thoughts

  • Hafey: We have some volunteer positions that need to be filled.

  • Business Sponsors, Restaurant Nights, Bingo Night (Brooke will do this), Auction for Carnival (Lacey and will take on helping with the auction night)

  • April: We need one contact to help with auction items.

  • Hafey: We need to hit this on our 1st PTA Meeting.

  • Website Management, Bulletin Board (Lacey), Art Heritage, and Angelo’s Pottery Night.

  • Lacey : We could do a spotlight for students or staff in our school on the bulletin board.

  • Hafey: You can make it your own.

  • We could do a class of the month.

  • Crone: We could do a staff of the month too.

  • Jared: We could update the website with that too.

  • Jared will talk with Jackie about Kindergarten Shirts.

  • Sheila: We are wondering if PTA would be interested in buying a new binder for memory books that teachers make. We are thinking of one per building.

  • Jared: They are 49 dollars, so I say we do it!

  • Hafey: PTA has provided almost everything in the building! We do not get Title Dollars, and if you do not have a PTA, we would not get anything. PTA even helps with our copies. Our PTA is Amazing! Thank you PTA.

  • Frahn will be running staff appreciation.

Hafey: PTA rocks!!!

Hafey: We really would like people to step up and help. We do not want anyone to get burnt out.
